blah-de-blahhh
I did some more vocals earlier this week for 'It Felt Like Forever'. I'm not 100% convinced they come across as bold as I want them, but there's some elements I'm really satisfied with. I've asked Mike Osborne and Mark Lord to perform Bass and Guitar, respectively, for this song as I really want some powerful sounds atop of the synth pop. Then I think the vocals will probably sit better.
Everything is a bit hollow right now. I like the space on these new songs, I don't feel so scared or the need to compensate with 42 audio tracks of instruments. Everything is more concise. I'm even planning a video for this song, I won't go into details just yet but I'm doing my research into getting it done.
So that's now two demos in the bag. Still have a very long way to go. I have one that's half finished, so I may work on that next. I've also been working on another idea, but the insparation to get the sounds I wanted just wasn't there last weekend. As they say, 'you can't force art'. I have (many) other things to be doing, so a slight break might do some good, just for now. I'm so never gonna get any sleep.
In slightly other news, I've been meeting with singer/songwriter Judith Elena Haustein, a friend I've been studying with. She's currently in the German equivelent to 'X-Factor' and doing rather well. Personally I think she can do much better than that and wanted to hear her demos. The plan is, if I get some time in the new year, I might demo some songs (perhaps songs that don't appear on Passive-Aggressive, not sure yet) and see how we work together. But we have mutual intentions musically. It might be daunting, among everything else, but I also feel this could be exciting too. I can find homes for different ideas this way and keep my ideas focused.
God damn I need some sleep.
